GIANLUIGI GIANNELLI
Prof. Gianluigi Giannelli
has documented experience in the field of
chronic liver disease as in both clinical and research aspects. He has
studied the biological aspects of therapies to prevent the development of
cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. In particular HCC represents his main
field of interest in both clinical and translational research. He has a proved
experience in the clinical studies for new therapies and for the validation of
biomarkers for diagnosis and management of patients with HCC. He has a large
experience in the molecular mechanisms responsible for the progression of hepatobiliary
cancer and for the identification of new therapeutic targets in preclinical
models.
1987-1991 Assistant at the
Clinical Department of Internal Medicine (Bari) for Out-patients and In-patients, focusing particularly on chronic liver disease.
1992-1993 Visiting
scientist at the Institute of Virology (Rome), carrying out studies on the biological role of Interferon
in the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis.
1994 Visiting Scientist at
the Institute of Experimental Oncology (Turin), carrying out studies on
integrin expression and function in skin diseases related to Internal
diseases.
1995 Visiting Scientist at
the Laboratory of Histology (Bari), for studies regarding the remodelling of
bone matrices and integrin expression.
1996-2000 Research
