
Isabel Fabregat
Dra. Isabel Fabregat earned a Degree in Biological Sciences in 1980 and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1983, both from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She carried out research at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London and at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She established her own research group at the Complutense University of Madrid and, in 2005, relocated the group to the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) in Barcelona. Since 2021, she has served as Member-at-Large for Life and Health Sciences at the Confederation of Spanish Scientific Societies (COSCE) and as Coordinator of the COSCE Commission for the Study of the Use of Animals in Scientific Research. Her research spans hepatology, oncology, immunology, and cancer biology, contributing important advances in the understanding of liver physiology, pathology, and disease mechanisms. Her work has been widely published in leading scientific journals, including Journal of Hepatology, Free Radical Biology and Medicine, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Cancers, and Cells.
