Miguel Ángel Genestar

Dr. Miguel Ángel Genestar Pujana is a Spanish biomedical scientist and oncologist who earned his PhD from the University of Barcelona before establishing himself as a leading researcher in functional genomics and molecular oncology. He currently serves as a Senior Principal Investigator at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) and the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) in Barcelona, Spain, where his research merges computational genomics, network biology, and experimental therapies. With a career spanning over two decades and a prolific publication record of more than 150 scientific papers, Dr. Pujana has made profound contributions to understanding genetic modifiers of breast cancer risk, particularly in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers, and has pioneered research into targeting major oncogenic drivers like the MYC protein, alongside advanced metabolic profiling to decipher how tumors reprogram themselves during metastasis.
